The presence of recurrent or persistent headaches can be an extremely debilitating condition. The causes of headaches can be multi-factorial in nature and there is an ever growing body of research trying to improve the management and treatment of specific types of headaches. The majority of the work done in the field of musculoskeletal medicine in relation to headaches has focused around the subtle co-ordination and control of the deep musculature of the neck. This control can be influenced by postural alignment, eye movement, pain, muscle weakness, early arthritic changes, brain sensitisation, and psycho-social factors. The good news is that there are a number of highly effective treatment solutions to target each of these factors.
